Could we yet be seeing the German super team of the legendary Boris Becker and the current World No.2, Alexander Zverev after the former was spotted in Monte-Carlo ahead of the ATP 1000 tournament which starts on Sunday afternoon.

On Saturday April 5, Zverev was spotted training under the watchful eye of the six-time Grand Slam champion. He has previously trained Novak Djokovic and also Zverev in Davis Cup mode. But his last assignment was Holger Rune.

They ended their stint together abruptly with Becker unable to get into certain countries also during their time together due to his recent conviction. Zverev was asked about it in the run up to the tournament and remained tight lipped albeit he opened up on their connection.

"Boris and I have a great connection. If anything happens, we'll let you know... In the meantime, you can speculate and make a story out of it. I'm not saying anything about it," he said on Sky Sport DE.

Zverev is top seed at the Monte-Carlo Masters as the defacto World No.1 while Jannik Sinner is currently out due to his doping ban. He has been sidelined for three months but remains on top of the sport likely until the May 4 return.

Zverev had a good opportunity to earn the top ranking in these months but he squandered it with early exits and in particular a poor Golden Swing earlier this season. He will need to win titles in the next month to attain it still. But could he yet turn to Becker for fresh ideas and impetus? Watch this space.
