Denmark’s tennis star
Holger Rune stated that it is ‘great’
have someone like
Boris Becker in his coaching staff.
The 20-year-old is often regarded as one of the most highly-rated
young tennis players currently playing in the circuit. Rune has gone through a
rough patch in the second half of the season but recently produced some
impressive results.
Some of it is down to the involvement of someone like the
former world number one Becker in the coaching staff. Rune, was recently quoted
in a report where he stated that it is ‘great’ to have someone with that kind
of experience becoming a part of the coaching staff.
“It's great,” he said. “It's really good. I mean, of course
he's right there. He's been there many, many times himself, which helps. He can
give out from his experience, give that to me on how to handle the things on
the court, off the court. Yeah, I mean, we still in the tournament, so let's
continue to fight.”
Rune is currently taking part in the last major tournament
in the men’s tennis calendar —
ATP Finals — in Italy’s city of Turin. In his
first game of the competition, the Gentofte-born suffered a defeat to the current
world number one Serbia’s Novak Djokovic with a score of 7-6, 6-7, 6-3.
He will next face
Greece’s Stefanos Tsitsipas in the second group match of the competition on
Monday.
