Moutet rallies from behind to defeat Fritz and claim Ultimate Tennis Showdown (UTS) title

Frenchman Corentin Moutet was crowned champion of the fourth edition of the Ultimate Tennis Showdown (UTS) late on Tuesday, fighting past American Taylor Fritz to claim the title.

The World No.72 dropped the first quarter against Fritz, but rallied to take the next three and win by a score of three quarters to one. The American put up some stiff resistance in the third quarter, but ended up losing it on a deciding point, leading to Moutet easily winning the final quarter. Both he and Fritz will now resume preparations for the upcoming French Open, with main-draw action beginning on May 30.

The latest edition of the UTS featured eight players, including World No.2 Daniil Medvedev and World No.10 Diego Schwartzman. However, both players fell before the final, with Schwartzman losing to Fritz in the semifinals.

Hosted at the Mouratoglou academy in France, the UTS participants will not have to travel much as they wrap up their training for Roland Garros.
