Serbia’s
Novak Djokovic was featured in a social media post by
an Italian luxury sports manufacturer. The 37-year-old is often regarded as the
greatest player in the history of men’s tennis in the singles category, having
won as many as 24 Grand Slam titles.
Djokovic’s season came to an early end when he decided to
withdraw from the ATP Finals, where he was set to defend his title, in Turin
because of an injury. In his off-time, he visited Italian luxury sports
manufacturer Ferrari, where he trained with the team. The brand also posted a
video of Djokovic doing the training with the team on its social media handle.
The Belgrade-born star will hope to use this time to recover
completely ahead of the next season after a rather below-par season, according
to his own high standards. It was the first time in seven years that Djokovic
failed to win a single Grand Slam in a season. His best performance this year
in a mega-event came at Wimbledon, where he lost in the final to defending
champion and current world number three Spain’s Carlos Alcaraz in straight sets
with a score of 6-2, 6-2, 7-6.
However, Djokovic will also remember this season for all the
right reasons as he went on to complete his trophy cabinet. The former world
number one finally won an Olympic gold for his country after beating Alcaraz in
the final of the singles category clash in straight sets with a score of 7-6,
7-6. His last outing came at the Shanghai Masters, where he lost to reigning
world number one Jannik Sinner in straight sets with a score of 7-6, 6-3. Djokovic
also ended up losing his number-one spot in the ATP rankings during the French
Open when he was forced to withdraw from the French Open just before the start
of the quarterfinal against Norway’s Casper Ruud because of a knee injury.
