Angelique Kerber continued her great run at the US Open with another great display against Li. She started off the match with a break which really set the tone for the whole match. Boosted by that early break Kerber looked comfortable on her court serving well and hitting her shots. She added another break late in the set to make it 6-3.

The 2nd set started off slowly with both players playing well enough to win their own service games. At 2-1 Kerber broke through the defence of Li to take a 3-1 lead but lost her own serve immediately after. Li would eventually tie it up and 3-3 to make matters interesting. The player's exchanged a few more games before we arrived at 5-4 and Li serving. Determined not to let the match get out of hand Kerber came out fierce and hitting several shots giving herself two match points.

She took the 1st and won a match that could have gotten out of hand late in the 2nd set. Luckily for Kerber, she maintained her composure to advance to the next round of the US Open.
