The Monte Carlo Masters 1000 has enjoyed the first great final that Carlos Alcaraz has reached in this season 2025. The Spaniard had a challenge to live up to, in a match against Lorenzo Musetti who got into the title match after beating Alex de Miñaur.

Carlitos started with doubts in his game, but ended up raising the level to the point of destroying Musetti in the last two sets. Alcaraz won the Monte Carlo title after defeating his opponent 6-3, 1-6, 0-6.

Although the match started with a break in favor of Alcaraz, he single-handedly complicated the first set. With a cataract of unforced errors, Carlitos allowed Musetti to take the lead to 4-1 in his favor. Holding firm on his serve, the Italian did not allow Alcaraz to press again in the whole set, and took the first set 6-3.

Champion's response

Carlos Alcaraz had no choice but to recover so that the first set would not affect him mentally. The Spaniard responded in the best possible way. With two consecutive breaks on Lorenzo Musetti's serve, Carlitos chained 5 consecutive games to settle the second set, which he would end up closing 1-6 in his favor.

The Alcaraz hurricane did not stop in the third set. The player from Murcia quickly chained two consecutive breaks to go 0-3 up. Lorenzo Musetti, unable to react, called a medical time-out, supposedly due to muscle pains.

When the match resumed, Carlos Alcaraz did not want his opponent to get back into the match. Without dropping his level, the Spaniard went 0-5, with the match practically sentenced. Serving for the win, Alcaraz sealed his victory in the Monte Carlo Masters with a donut in the third set.
