Australian Open tournament director Craig Tiley welcomes Novak Djokovic to the 2023 Australian Open by calling him the best player in the world.
Novak Djokovic has had historic success at the Australian Open and he wants to get to number 10 in trophies at the event. He'll have the chance to do so at next year's Australian Open as he will make a return to the event following last year's deportation.
An in interview, Tiley sent a message to Djokovic officially welcoming him to the event:
"If you look at [Djokovic's] form – you can argue he's the best player in the world. He's an unbelievable tennis player and this is the place he's won the most, he'll be very hungry to not let the young guns on the men's side take the title from him."
He added:
“I think this could be the year, I’ve been around long enough to know that the Australian Open unearths and uncovers the greats of the future.”
Djokovic himself was delighted by the news of his visa ban being lifted.
