Roberto Bautista Agut and Alex De Minaur reached the 3rd round of the US Open after victories against Kecmanovic and Gasquet. Roberto Bautista Agut has had an incredible restart to the season that saw almost reach the final last week. This week he continued his good play and today he was once again very good. Miomir Kecmanovic is a good promising player who can be dangerous on hard courts but Bautista controlled the match from the beginning.

Even losing the 2nd set didn't shake him too much and he continued playing the way he knows how to play and eventually all the pieces fell into place. The end result was 6-3 3-6 6-3 6-4.

Alex De Minaur didn't play tennis for a very long time so many were wondering how will he handle the restart. His play last week was not very good but it was somewhat expected. This week his play has been better even though today was nothing special. He simply outlasted Gasquet who is an aging veteran and the style of play of De Minaur does not suit him at all.

The Australian did control the match and pace very well which was part of his plan. Ultimately as Gasquet started to tire so did Minaur take his chances. He did however give Gasquet a chance to fight back and the Frenchman did so in impressive fashion. It was the tiebreak and the Frenchman stringed together a run to take it 8-6. The last set was a true battle where Gasquet had a lead an one point but De Minaur fought back and ultimately won it 7-5 to win the match.
