Lucas Pouille returned from the brink after issues off court with alcoholism and depression to reach the second round from qualifying at
Roland Garros.
But on returning home to Rennes, it turned into devastating news as his house was ransacked while he was away in Paris.
Over 600,000 euros of valuables were stolen including jewelry and luxury watches.
According to sources, this was discovered while he played in the mixed doubles and was eliminated in the first round.
It is gutting news for Pouille who has rebuilt himself from the brink and was one of the main feel good stories of the opening week in Paris.
“I can’t imagine how he feels after such a long way back, battling with depression and alcoholism, and has somehow managed to turn things around in this tournament,” said Laura Robson to Eurosport at the time about him battling back from depression.
“I hope no matter what happens [against Norrie] that he keeps this level up because he should be ranked so much higher. We’ve seen him at the very top of the game and we just hope he can get back in the top 100, because more scenes like this would be insane to watch.
“You’ve gone to the lowest low and you don’t think there’s any way back. Somehow, he’s managed to make his way through qualifying into the main draw, win a tough first round match and now there’s no expectation on him going into today."
