Novak Djokovic held a press conference earlier today and he was asked about Alcaraz with the Serbian giving him praise for what he was able to do last year.
Alcaraz faced Djokovic at the Madrid Masters and defeated him en route to his second Masters trophy. He would not face Djokovic again that year but he would snatch the number one ranking even finishing at that ranking at the end of the year. It was something that Djokovic held the previous year so when he was asked about it today, Novak praised his efforts:
"When it comes to Alcaraz, he deserved to be number one and to win the grand slam. I can only praise him as a person but also as a tennis player who doesn't have many shortcomings. He can play equally well on all surfaces and he's very explosive. He had an injury and now he's back with a trophy last week in South America."
