The draw has been confirmed for the 2025 Brisbane International which is due to take place between 29 December - 5 January, 2025 and sees Novak Djokovic return to action as well as a number of top names.
Djokovic who albeit isn't joined by Andy Murray starts new beginnings in 2025 and will aim to finally reach 25 Grand Slam titles. He did not have the best 2024 but will start his new year against Rinky Hijikata and could face Gael Monfils. A player who has had a hellish time against him with one of the worst Head to Head records in tennis.
Second seed is Grigor Dimitrov, he is defending champion and will face either David Goffin or Aleksandar Vukic in the second round.
Nick Kyrgios also makes his competitive return for the first time since June 2023. He faces a battle of the serves against the missile of Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard. He did play at the recent World Tennis League in Abu Dhabi as a way of getting his eye back in.
The intrigue also comes from the doubles where he will play with his enemy turned friend Novak Djokovic who is one of the leading lights that he does have good things to say about after his pretty open feud with Jannik Sinner in recent months. But with the home crowd, no matter what people may think of the Aussie, he is a showman and will get top billing.
Then he could face Frances Tiafoe in another potentially fun affair. While Holger Rune is third seed and faces Jiri Lehecka. Other clashes include Alex Michelsen against home hero Christopher O'Connell.
Rising star Jakub Mensik could face Sebastian Korda in the second round. While Alexei Popyrin could be on a course with Reilly Opelka. The new season is officially upon us and the draw is released for the first tournament of the new year.
