Carlos
Alcaraz will be the protagonist of a Netflix documentary series narrating his
journey on the ATP Tour. The filming of the series began with the Netflix Slam,
an exhibition in Las Vegas featuring the young Spanish player against the
22-times Grand Slam champion Rafael Nadal.
This
week, Alcaraz is competing in the
Madrid Open, where he is defending the titles
he won in 2022 and 2023. The young Spaniard made a successful start by
defeating
Alexander Shevchenko 6-2, 6-1 and will face the Brazilian Thiago
Seyboth Wild in the round of 32.
After
securing his 12th consecutive triumph in Madrid, Alcaraz spoke in a press
conference about what fans can expect from his new Netflix documentary:
“Everyone knows the tennis player
Carlos Alcaraz, but I want to show my
personality off the court,” Alcaraz said in Madrid.
“I
think it’s a great story to tell, that of a little boy who pursued his dream to
become world number 1,” he added. “I want to show everyone who I am off the
court. That’s why I’m doing this (the documentary), and I think it will be
beautiful. I’m super happy to have this experience with Morena Films and
Netflix,” he added.
“People
will be able to see everything they don’t see on a tennis court. I think it’s
something different. I hope they will enjoy watching it as much as I enjoy
filming it,” Alcaraz concluded.
