Taylor Fritz experienced quite a moment last night at
Roland Garros when he was booed by the crowd for several minutes following his win over the final French player in the draw.
Fritz was playing
Arthur Rinderknech and he beat him in four sets with the finish featuring quite a few memorable moments. The crowd was singing the French national anthem between games with Fritz unable to serve the way he wanted to when he was serving for the match. The umpire struggled to control the crowd and their cheers which prevented Fritz from serving on time.
The crowd mockingly was making 'shh' sounds as a joke towards the umpire who tried to control the crowd. Eventually, Fritz was able to serve out the match and he then told the crowd to shut up as he made the 'shh' gesture towards the crowd. As they erupted with booes, Fritz told them that he can't hear them.
He finally mockingly sent kisses to the crowd however none of that really discouraged the crowd which kept booeing him for a few minutes making the post-match on-the-court interview with Marion Bartoli almost impossible. His girlfriend Morgan Riddle who accompanies him at all matches was there pulling out a camera to capture the moment.
She seemed quite amused with the whole situation.
