Taylor Fritz will start his season before 2025 with the top American leading a main duo with Coco Gauff at the United Cup which began today (December 27) with USA playing in the coming days.

Fritz spoke ahead of the tournament starting about not wanting to go over board in the off season in order and risking injury as a result. In his words 'killing' himself for very little gain and as a result he feels recharged and raring to go now.

Reaching the US Open final last year, it has been a breakout year for Fritz who has mostly been a nearly man throughout his ATP tenure alongside a select group of top 10 players. But he showed the game is there and now his leading target is further Grand Slam runs.

He said that his goal despite playing the United Cup is the Australian Open and that he wants deep runs in all of the Grand Slams. After such a great season, who could bet against him. He was seen enjoying his time in Perth with Gauff in recent days and will be ready to go when it all kicks off.

"As I've gotten a bit older, it's not so much about absolutely killing myself as much as I can in the off-season," he said pre tournament to the media.

"It's about training but still feeling recharged and ready to go. I'm very motivated to come back out and be ready to play in Australia.

"It's about finding the balance between working as much as I can but still not almost burning myself out just so I'm feeling good coming here.

"Obviously, the main focus is going to be the Australian Open," he added about his 2025 goals. "Hopefully a deep run at the Slams (this year)."
