Daniil Medvedev started his
Miami Open match after midnight and finished at about 01:30 local time due to rain that saw him wait for his match for hours.
Midnight is not the usual tennis time and it wasn't one that particularly excited Medvedev either. He's happy about the fact that he got it done and won't have to play two matches in a short amount of time but he noted that it wasn't easy. Halys certainly struggled with the time and couldn't get his serve to work properly which was good for Medvedev because he won it quicker than anybody thought he would:
“I’m really happy that I managed to play not so bad because it’s
not easy…When you play at midnight, I mean I usually sleep at midnight,
so try to play some tennis there.”
Medvedev is playing superb tennis right now posting a 22-1 record since the Australian Open with his only loss coming to Alcaraz last week in Indian Wells. It's a problem for Medvedev because Alcaraz won this event last year and is still in the draw. Beating him will be tough but he just hopes to play that match if it comes to that at a normal time.
Up next is Eubanks for him.
