Jannik Sinner wins 2022 Croatia Open Umag over Carlos Alcaraz

Jannik Sinner defeated Carlos Alcaraz for a 2nd time in a month 6-7(5) 6-1 6-1 to lift the Croatia Open trophy in Umag.

This match was a very interesting match that featured an incredible comeback win by Sinner as well as an epic collapse by Carlos Alcaraz. The opening set featured strong play by both as neither allowed a single break point the entire match. We went into the tiebreak and it was Alcaraz who played better early blasting two incredible returns to secure two crucial points.

Sinner would get close to 6-5 but squander a huge chance to make it 6-6 practically giving away the point to Alcaraz and the set by extension. The Spaniard had a huge chance to take an early break at the start of the 2nd set with a 40-0 lead on Sinner's serve. Sinner made it 40-40 and then saved three more break points to take that game.

In a way that proved to be the defining moment because Alcaraz's game completely fell apart after that. Sinner started to hit his forehand and it was pretty much game over. The Italian raced to a 6-1 finish in the 2nd set and took a 1-0 lead before Alcaraz on a game. The Italian won six games in a row which is incredible against the Spaniard.

The Italian kept playing well in the final set utterly crushing Alcaraz from the baseline. He finished it off with 6-1 to secure the trophy. Alcaraz loses the 2nd final in only 7 days after taking all the previous ones he played.
