Norrie survives Isner ace onslaught to advance to Acapulco quarterfinals

In a valiant display of perseverance, Cameron Norrie rallied from a set down to topple John Isner and reach the quarterfinals at the Abierto Mexicano Acapulco on Wednesday.

Norrie prevailed with a 6-7 (2) 6-3 6-4 victory over his opponent, withstanding an incredible 27 aces from the towering American. Additionally, the British No.1 did not face a single break point, winning 85% of points behind his first serve in the process.

After falling in the opening set tiebreak, Norrie relied on his strong anticipation and return game to neutralize the Isner serve. Surprising, the former top-ranked American did not have a single double fault during the match, which is a testament to Norrie's return ability as he broke Isner on two occasions, which was enough to hand him the victory after two hours and seven minutes.

The sixth seed will face lucky loser Peter Gojowczyk in the quarterfinals, as the German was granted a walkover victory due to Alexander Zverev's withdrawal from the tournament.
