Novak Djokovic cruises past Aljaz Bedene at Roland Garros

In the scorching Parisian sun, Novak Djokovic battled Aljaz Bedene and bested the Slovenian in straight sets 6-3 6-3 6-3 at Roland Garros.

It was the prototypical Djokovic match at a grand slam where the Serbian did just enough to win in straight sets and not stress. There is very little Bedene can do o Djokovic as the Servian is simply better in a lot of it. Even Bedene's serve can be tamed with Djokovic and his return and for the most part, it was. The Serbian did not force the issue too much opting for a measured approach.

The first set was pretty straightforward for Djokovic who applied pressure on Bedene from the start. He forced a couple of break points in several games but ultimately broke his opponent only once for the 6-3 score. Bedene tried to be aggressive but it did not work and he accumulated 14 errors which was too much. The 2nd set was quite similar to the first one.

Djokovic applied pressure early and he got a break that he needed. After that, both focused on their own serves and Djokovic did not force the issue too much. Bedene won a couple of them easily but the Serbian applied pressure once more at 5-3 to close it out with another break. Once again Bedene tried to be attacking but too many mistakes overall.

The final set was another copy of the previous two. For the most part, Bedene was solid on his serve but every time Djokovic needed a break he applied pressure and he would get it. The Serbian timed his effort perfectly and he cruised to a 6-3 finish.
