Jannik Sinner defeated Tommy Haas in the Battle of Generations at the bett1 Aces and advanced to the semifinals of the tournament.

Tommy Haas turned pro 5 years before Jannik Sinner was born. In the beginnings of his career, young Italian probably couldn't even imagine that he'll ever face former world no. 2 from Germany. However, this happened in the Battle of Generations at the bett1 Aces in Berlin.
After 3 years, Tommy Haas returned onto the tennis court again. He showed great qualities in high age also before when he defeated Roger Federer on the grass in Stuttgart back in 2017. This time, he played against 3 years and faced much younger Jannik Sinner.
The young Italian showed his qualities in the first set. He had one breakpoint which he converted and won the set 6-4. However, Haas got into the rhythm and was about to show why he was the second-best man on the planet back in 2002.
After being 2-3 down in the second set, the German managed to break his opponent 2 times in a row and won 12 out of 16 rallies to win the second set 6-3.
Similarly to the first quarterfinal match, also this one was decided in the super tie-break. Youth prevailed over experience in the tie-break when Sinner triumphed 10-8 and booked his semifinal spot against Dominic Thiem.
