Kazakhstan’s Elena Rybakina has opened up about taking a ride in her Porsche car, which she won this year. The world number six won a Porsche car earlier this year after winning a WTA 500 event in Stuttgart in April after beating Marta Kostyuk of Ukraine in the final in straight sets with a score of 6-2, 6-2.
Rybakina, who is currently in Australia taking part in the United Cup, has talked about taking a ride in her Porsche car after finally getting a driver's license. “I got my driver's license, so that a good thing,” she said. “That's what I said earlier this year that this is one of the goals like outside of the court. So I'm really happy. Yeah, I enjoyed some car rides already. It was Porsche Cayenne. Yeah.”
Rybakina will be hoping to have a better season than the last one where she struggled with fitness concerns, especially towards the latter stages. The reigning world number six ended up playing 53 matches across all competitions, winning 42 and losing 11. Her triumph in Stuttgart was one of her three titles.
She first lifted the Brisbane International after beating the reigning world number one Belarus’ Aryna Sabalenka in the final in straight sets with a score of 6-0, 6-3. Rybakina then lifted the Mubadala Abu Dhabi Open after beating Russia’s Daria Kasatkina in the final in straight sets with a score of 6-1, 6-4.
Rybakina did not have a great year when it came to Grand Slams. She participated in the main round of all four but only managed to cross the quarterfinal stage once. Her best outing in a Grand Slam in 2024 came at Wimbledon, where she was knocked out after losing in the semifinal to Barbora Krejcikova in the final with a score of 3-6, 6-3, 6-4.
