Stefanos Tsitsipas had no issues against Benoit Paire at the Madrid Open taking him down in straight sets.
The Greek number one was sensational in his quick match against Paire defeating him 6-1 6-2 in only 54 minutes of play. It continued a stellar run for Tsitsipas on clay which started back in Monte-Carlo where he won the title. Benoit Paire came into this match in high spirits after winning against Basilashvili.
He celebrated that victory with a lot of emotion which was not seen in him for a long time. Despite his high spirits, he could not match Tsitsipas who is playing the best tennis of his career. He played a great match from start to finish dictating the tempo of play with his serve and forehand.
He hit 4 aces and only one double fault in the entire match en route to the quick victory. He was clinical on break points winning 5 of 7 he had. He also saved 2 of three break points on his own serve which was more than enough.
He will either play Ruud or Nishioka in the 3rd round of the event and judging by his recent form he should be favoured either way. He holds a 10-1 record on clay this year with his only loss coming against Nadal in the Barcelona Open final.
