Tennis fans lamented the reaction of Russia’s Daniil
Medvedev while training during the Western & Southern Open.
The 27-year-old was unhappy while training ahead of his
second-round fixture against Italy’s Lorenzo Musetti and threw his racket in
anger.
The video of the incident appeared online which left fans
bemused, some of them who even ended up calling Medvedev a ‘crying baby’.
The world number three will be hoping to have an extended
run in the ongoing event in order to prepare for the fourth and final Grand
Slam of the year.
The US Open is set to begin in less than 15 days and
players from all over the world will participate to win the ultimate prize.
Medvedev’s only Grand Slam victory came while playing in
Flashing Medows in 2021 when he defeated the current world number two Serbia’s
Novak Djokovic in straight sets in the final with a score of 6-4, 6-4, 6-4.
However, last year was very disappointing one for the
Moscow-born as he was knocked out from the fourth round after losing to
Australia’s Nick Kyrgios with a score of 7-6, 3-6, 6-3, 6-2.
