Novak Djokovic and Carlos Alcaraz were engaged in a rally as they played against other in the final of the Cincinnati Open when they were disrupted by a bizarre hawkeye glitch.
23-time Grand Slam champion Djokovic and world No. 1 Alcaraz locked horns in an epic battle for the ATP Masters 1000 title at the Western & Southern Open in Cincinnati, Ohio. This served as a re-match of the Wimbledon final last month, where the Spaniard defeated seven-time SW19 champion Djokovic in a five-set thriller.
This time it was the Serb who prevailed, winning the match 5-7, 7-6(7), 7-6(4). However, this was not before a strange technical glitch caused disruption to one of the games.

Technical glitch calls "fault" during rally

The glitch occurred early on in the match when the two players were at 4-4 in the opening set.
Djokovic had previously broken Alcaraz's serve to get a 4-2 lead, but the 20-year-old fought back to level the set. They were then locked in a rally when the electronic line-calling system suddenly called "fault". Djokovic looked baffled on the court as the umpire called for the point to be replayed. Meanwhile, shouts of confusion and frustration could be heard from the crowd.
After the disruption, Alcaraz moved ahead of the world No. 2 to take the first set, but Djokovic proceeded to take the title after winning both tiebreaks in the next two sets. This means that the 36-year-old is edging closer to Alcaraz's No. 1 position in the ATP rankings.

Comes just a week after 'Cotton Eye Joe'

This match interruption comes just a week after Jessica Pegula's semi-final match against Iga Swiatek at the Canadian Open was disrupted when the speakers on court started playing the popular song 'Cotton Eye Joe' mid-match.
Pegula won the semi-final before going on to take the title. Speaking after the match, she said the incident was bizarre but amusing.
"I just thought it was funny. I've never had that happen, let alone with "Cotton-Eyed Joe." I was, like, is this really happening right now? Of all the songs. It was just, like, what is going on?" she said.
