Petra Kvitova and Grigor Dimitrov were lucky enough to play under the roof during the 1st day of the Australian Open
The main story during the 1st day of Melbourne was the weather which once again proved disruptive. This time around it was the rain as much of the matches scheduled to be played today were suspended. Petra Kvitova was lucky to play on the Main Court which had a roof that was closed.
It was an all Czech affair as her opponent was Siniakova who she already beat twice her career. Early in the match, it became apparent that Petra would have no issues in this one as she won the first set 6-1 in only 30 minutes. She upped her performance in the 2nd one winning it 6-0 in a mere 21 minutes.
The next match featured on the main court was between Dimitrov and Londero.
The Bulgarian had a decisive offseason in order to prepare for this event. Despite that, he started a bit shaky and Londero was able to win the 1st set 6-4. It was a much-needed wakeup call for the Bulgarian as he started playing much better. He would only allow the Argentinian to win 4 more games en route to a solid 3-1 victory.
