Felix Auger-Aliassime has won his sixth career title taking down Sebastian Korda in the final of the 2025 Adelaide International 6-3, 3-6, 6-1 on Saturday afternoon.
Auger-Aliassime had only reached two finals previously on outdoor hard and wins his first title on the surface. He previously had five on indoor hard. it is also his first title outside of Europe and first since Basel 2023.
It is also a great result for FAA in the context of his season. He had lost round one in four out of his last five outdoor hard events in 2024.
After a few tough seasons, he seems to be getting his spark back and just in time for the Australian Open. He had a poor United Cup at times despite defeating Taylor Fritz but since then, he has snapped into gear. While for Korda who auspiciously pulled out of Brisbane last week, it is a welcome run.
He seemed to potentially be injured going into the Australian Open but has reached a final so is certainly in some form but it is Auger-Aliassime who wins the day in Adelaide.
“First Sebi, always a pleasure. We’ve know each other for a while. We always push each other and make each other better. I wish you all the best in the coming season. Already a great start. I wish all the best to you and your team. I was here 10 days ago. I’ve enjoyed every day since I arrived," said Auger-Aliassime on court in his interview afterwards. He also lauded the tournament for picking him up from the airport.
"Thank you to the people of South Australia. I’d like to say thank you to Alicia and your whole team at the tournament, who actually came to pick me up at the airport. Not every tournament director does that.”
