Canadian tennis player
Denis Shapovalov has announced
engagement to fellow tennis player Sweden’s Mirjam Bjorklund.
The two tennis stars have been dating for a while and on
Thursday, Shapovalov announced the development on his official Twitter account.
The news will be a good one for the couple, especially
considering that both are having a struggling time on the court this year.
Shapovalov has failed to qualify for the quarterfinal or beyond
in the three Grand Slams this year.
The Tel Aviv-born was defeated by Hubert Hurkacz of Poland in the third
round of the Australian Open (7-6, 6-4, 1-6, 4-6, 6-3), Spain’s Carlos Alcaraz
in the third round of the French Open (6-1, 6-4, 6-2) and Russia’s Roman Safiullin
in the fourth round (3-6, 6-3, 6-1, 6-3).
On the other hand, Bjorklund failed to qualify for the main
draw in any of the Grand Slams and was knocked out from the qualification
rounds.
