Fans have been reflecting on the incredible achievements of the Big Three -
Novak Djokovic,
Rafael Nadal, and
Roger Federer - as shown in some impressive statistics.
Djokovic, Nadal, and Federer dominated the sport between them for well over a decade. They have a combined total of sixty-six major titles and 291
ATP Tour titles.
Although the trio dissolved twelve months ago when Federer retired in September 2022, fans are still in awe at the achievements of the Big Three. Moreover, Djokovic is currently still the World No. 1 and recently secured his 24th Grand Slam title at the 2023 US Open.
Statistics reveal dominance
One fan recently pointed out on X, formerly known as Twitter, that the three players have won 82.5% of all Major events that they have played since July 2004. Furthermore, at least one of the three has reached the semi-finals of seventy-six of the last seventy-eight Grand Slams.
Among these matches are some of the greatest battles in tennis history, such as when Djokovic and Nadal locked horns in the 2012 Australian Open final for five hours and fifty-three minutes - the longest major final in history. Another example is the 2008 Wimbledon final, where Federer and Nadal played for a grueling four hours and forty-eight minutes.
As well as this, the three have spent a combined total of 909 weeks out of the last 1002 as World No. 1 in the ATP Ranking, which amounts to an impressive 17 and a half years. One of them has also been the Year-End No. 1 for 17 of the last 19 years.
Fans react to feats on social media
More fans have taken to social media to share their admiration for these incredible feats.
"No sport has had three players or teams dominate for so long in the same era" wrote one.
"Absolutely incredible stats. 17 1/2 years????? Doubt this will ever happen again," added another.
Meanwhile, some shared their thoughts on which of the three players is the strongest, while others questioned whether or not their dominance was actually good for the sport.
"Respect for all three tennis players who showed the best era of tennis in which Novak Djokovic stood out and became the best tennis player of all time. What some deny about Novak is jealousy without evidence," commented one.
"Yes they dominated but was it good for the sport? You could say tennis has been predictable, and therefore less interesting," added another.
