A player who is missed by many on the tour gave fans slim hope that one day that she could return. That being
Ana Ivanovic who shared videos and pictures from a training session showing that despite not playing since 2016, the forehand is still very much there.
One of her best weapons when she played, Ivanovic posted on social media videos of her hitting on a clay court and also posted pictures on X (formerly known as Twitter) saying: "It's more than just a sport" showing that despite her retiring quite prematurely, the love for the sport has never left her.
She made her first Grand Slam final back in 2007 losing to the defending champion Justine Henin. Breaking into the top 10 at the time after her run in Paris, she also reached the semi-finals at Wimbledon before losing to Venus Williams.
Winning a multitude of titles in 2007 and 2008, the latter was her best season reaching the Australian Open final losing to Maria Sharapova. But did win the French Open that season as well as Indian Wells and Linz. A best season for her, she did win seven more trophies, but failed to replicate that Grand Slam success in the eight years that followed before retiring albeit at only 29 in 2016.
She had an injury absence and decided to step away and has since had three kids including one in 2023 with well-known German football icon, Bastian Schweinsteiger who she often accompanies at events and the duo were seen at Roland Garros this year in the box. A player who many want to return and perhaps she could be testing the waters for a comeback? Time will tell.
