Andy Murray is set to join Cameron Norrie, Dan Evans, and Neal Skupski as part of Great Britain's Davis Cup team in Manchester next month.

Former world No. 1 Murray was an essential player in Britain's Davis Cup victory in 2015, ending a wait of almost 80 years.

However, the three-time Grand Slam champion was absent from the team's clay-court qualifying win in Colombia last February. The team captain Leon Smith said this was because the Scot did not have a great record on clay, having played only three matches on the surface since 2017.

The British team will be up against Australia, France, and Switzerland in Group B of the Davis Cup, from September 12-17. Only two of the four nations will advance to the quarter-final in November.

Smith expressed the team's excitement at playing in front of a home crowd.

"We can’t wait to play Davis Cup in Manchester in front of a huge home crowd," Smith said, "It’s been a long time since we played in the North West and I’m sure we are going to feel and hear a lot of energy from the fans."
