Nalbandian has been accused by his ex-girlfriend Araceli Torrado of sexual
harassment, stalking, and breaking and entering.

David Nalbandian is at the center of a scandal that has reached
the courts. Araceli Torrado (29), his ex-partner, accused him of placing a spy
camera in her room in the context of harassment, stalking, and jealousy. In
this context, conversations between the athlete and the model were leaked in
which he admits to installing the device.
Nalbandian,
a former world No. 3 and winner of 11 ATP titles, is facing charges of sexual
harassment, stalking, and breaking and entering. However, the Public
Prosecutor's Office of the City has twice dismissed the complaint, according to
judicial sources cited by Clarín, and the judge rejected the requests for
evidence and precautionary measures from the plaintiff. Torrado's lawyer,
Martin Olari Ugrotte, said they have already appealed this decision, and the
Appeals Court must now decide.
As part of
the complaint, Torrado submitted a video showing the moment her brother
dismantles the ventilation duct in her room and discovers the hidden camera.
She also attached WhatsApp audio messages and a recording of a phone
conversation between her and Nalbandian in which he acknowledges the incident.
"Do
you want me to be honest? We put it that day. I couldn't see it because I don't
know what the problem is with the Internet; you can't see anything. So I didn't
see absolutely anything," Nalbandian says in the communication, according
to the audio accessed by Clarín.
"Why
did you do this? Are you a pervert who wants to see me naked while I sleep, do
you have a morbid curiosity to see me with someone or see if I brought guys?
Tell me the truth," Torrado asks. "The truth is... There are many
times I don't understand you. The only intention was to understand you a little
more, to empathize a little more in some way," says Nalbandian.
In June of
this year, the young woman found a surveillance camera with the ability to
transmit in real-time hidden in the ventilation of the apartment she shared
with Nalbandian, who later confessed to being responsible for that device
through a WhatsApp conversation.
In that
presentation, Torrado described the former tennis player as "someone
jealous and excessively controlling" and requested protective measures
such as a restraining order and a ban on contact with her.
