Alycia Parks is having issues away from indoors tennis as the American suffered yet another early exit, this time getting beaten in Austin by Mirjam Bjorklund.
The girlfriend of Denis Shapovalov proved to be too much to handle for Parks who played okay but not nearly as well as she played earlier this year. The American needs to get acclimated to playing outdoors because her result outdoors haven't been that good this year. Another early exit and especially playing at home.
Bjorklund is a decent player but this is a matchup that Parks should win most days. Parks was pretty decent in the first set but she struggled with her serve hitting 7 doubles faults. When she hit her first serve the point was mostly hers but the 2/11 on the second serve was the problem. Using only one of six break points you have also won't do you much good.
The second set was very good from Parks as she was excellent on her serve and played really well. She took it to force a decider but in the decider, she missed out on a great early chance. After Bjorklund stabilized a little bit, the momentum was already on her side and she rode it to the finish line.
