Bianca Andreescu started her Hua Hin campaign with a tricky matchup against
Harriet Dart but she proved better than the Brit in straight sets 6-3 6-4.
It was a fairly solid match from Andreescu even though she complicated things quite a bit in the second set. It was a hard-fought match between the players as both don't mind playing long rallies and rarely give up. Andreescu took an early lead of 2-0 but gave it back midway through the set. She then broke her opponent again and added another break to finish it off 6-3.
The final set was an interesting one as Andreescu kept her good momentum going and dominated early on. She jumped out to a 5-1 lead but allowed herself to nearly throw away all of that with a lacklustre approach in the final few games. Dart battled back to 5-4 as Andreescu relaxed too much and started to do too many mistakes.
She avoided disaster with a late rally to break Dart once more finishing off the match 6-4 in the final set. A bad conclusion to the second set but she'll be glad to escape in two.
