Coco Gauff beat Naomi Osaka in San Jose last night to secure another quarterfinal and it was the 14th of her career.
That made Gauff the 5th youngest player since 2000 to do it and it's a very important milestone because it shows the consistency of Gauff at a very young age. That bodes well for her career because tennis is a sport that rewards consistency quite a bit and Gauff would certainly like to be as consistent as possible.
She is playing some of the best tennis of her career at the moment with the hope of capturing her 3rd career trophy this week. The players that did it as well since 2000 are Kim Clijsters who is a major champion, and then Nicole Vaidisova, former number 7 and 6x titlist on the WTA Tour. Maria Sharapova did it as well and we all know what kind of career she had.
And the final player who did it before Gauff is Tatiana Golovin, a player who peaked at number 12 in the world. A pretty decent company and a predictor of solid success in the future but it will depend on how hard she works.
