As the WTA season comes to a close, several players will head to the beautiful city of Merida, Mexico for the Merida Open Akron tournament, which is scheduled to run from October 28 - November 3, 2024.
A WTA 250 event, the Merida Open Akron was added to the WTA calendar during the 2023 season. Italian superstar Camila Giorgi won the inaugural title, but she will not be defending her title at this year's edition after her shock retirement from the sport earlier this year.

Hometown favorite Renata Zarazua is set to thrill the local fans. Additionally, Australia's Ajla Tomljanovic will be present, in addition to the German duo of Tatjana Maria and Julie Niemeier.
