American tennis star
Madison Keys opened up on the wholesome details behind the surprise proposal made by her long-term boyfriend, fellow tennis player Bjorn Fratangelo, and also provided an update on the upcoming wedding.
The pair began their relationship back in 2017 and have previously teamed up to play doubles together. On March 3, 2023, Keys announced their engagement by sharing an image of the pair with their hands intertwined as she sported a shiny new engagement ring.
"Forever," Keys captioned the picture followed by a white heart.
After her opening round win at the Credit One
Charleston Open, Keys revealed some details behind Fratangelo's proposal.
"He actually did it at home. The day that I got back from Dubai so I was not expecting it at all," said the World No.22. “I was sitting on the couch and he was like ‘hey I have your birthday present’. He handed me something and then got down on one knee.
"Just sitting on the couch so now we have to keep the couch forever."
Keys also shared some updates on the difficulty of planning a wedding, considering they were both full-time tennis players on tour. However, she did add they had thought about having their wedding in Charleston.
"As tennis players we don’t have a lot of time and weekends that could potentially work," she said. "So we’re trying to nail down one very specific day and hope things work out"
