Russia’s young tennis sensation
Mirra Andreeva has praised her coach, Conchita Martinez, and stated that she ‘trusts her in everything’. The
17-year-old is regarded as one for the future and has already put in a number
of impressive performances on the court.
Most recently, Andreeva lifted her first major WTA event in
Dubai, where she defeated Denmark’s Clara Tauson in the final in straight sets with
a score of 7-6, 6-1. Before that, she also played in the semifinal of the
Brisbane International where she lost to the reigning world number one Aryna
Sabalenka in straight sets with a score of 6-3, 6-2.
Andreeva is currently taking part at the
Indian Wells, where she booked her place in the fourth round after beating Tauson in the round
of 32 in straight sets with a score of 6-3, 6-0. Andreeva has recently been quoted in a report in which she praised her coach, Martinez. The youngster stated
that she has full trust in everything her coach asked her to do and also spoke
about how it is to work with her behind the scenes.
“Since the beginning of our relationship, I mean, work
relationship, I already felt like we had a great connection,” she said. “At the
first tournament that we went on together was already super great, and I felt
very comfortable around her. I think she told me that it was the same for her,
so thank God it's not just me. The atmosphere is always, I feel like we're both
very energetic, and, you know, I feel like we both know how to be energetic,
but when we need to also calm down and take things seriously. Yeah, I
completely trust her with everything. I think she knows everything that's going
on in my life. I don't know if it's good or bad, but, no, just like this. I'm
just super happy to have her by my side.”
