The past few months have been disappointing for French tennis star Caroline Garcia, leading to the former World No.4 dropping some cryptic remarks regarding her future in the sport.

The 31-year old called an early end to her 2024 season following the US Open last September. Garcia announced she would be taking the rest of the year off after being left exhausted by anxiety and panic attacks.

Garcia's future uncertain following early exits this season

After lifting the biggest title of her career at the 2022 WTA Finals, Garcia suffered a dip in form that saw her drop in the WTA Rankings. The Frenchwoman struggled to regain her confidence over the next year, leading to her decision to end her season early in 2024.

Garcia returned at the 2025 Australian Open, where she fell to familiar foe Naomi Osaka in the first round. She would suffer another first round exit at the Abu Dhabi Open, with her best result being a second round appearance at the Qatar Open during the Middle East swing.

Garcia would experience a brief resurgence at Indian Wells, where she defeated American Bernarda Pera in the first round. However, she would lose to World No.2 Iga Swiatek in the next round, winning just two games in the match. Following her loss, Garcia seemed unsure of her future, leaving reporters puzzled with a cryptic remark.

"Sometimes you just want to run for the big title but not everyone will win one, obviously," said the World No.71. "It's hard, and I had to work little by little to be already proud of the career that I have. If tomorrow I stop, I will be proud of my career."
