Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova announces a knee injury that will require her to stop playing tennis for about 10 weeks but will not require surgery.
Knee injuries are a nightmare for many athletes with the recovery being very slow and taking a long time. Luckily for Pavlyuchenkova her recurrent knee injury won't need surgery cutting short the time needed to recover but the Russian will still be out for about 10 weeks. She announced the news on social media writing:
"My knee has been bothering me for a year and a half. I played through the pain, but the pain unfortunately returned. Following the St. Petersburg tournament, I did an MRI. I hope that in four weeks I will return to the courts [for training]."
The injury will require a month of recovery after which she will do another MRI to assess the situation. She hopes to be ready as soon as possible but won't rush return before she is deemed fully recovered. Pavlyuchenkova should be good to go for the French Open where she defends a lot of points after having played in the final last year.
