Jasmine Paolini won her maiden WTA trophy at the WTA 250 event in
Portoroz and the Italian was very proud of her achievement.
It was a fabulous week for Jasmine Paolini in Portoroz as the Italian player was able to cap off a very good week in Slovenia with her maiden WTA trophy. It's something that has been in the making for a while now as Paolini was putting forward very good and consistent performances in 2021. Earlier in the year, she won her first trophy at a WTA 125 K event in Bol, Croatia which was a sign of things to come.
Interestingly enough both of these titles came in tows sitting on the Adriatic cost so Paolini seems to enjoy the conditions there. After the win she said:
"I think the one just ended was a really fantastic week here in
Portorož. I'm very happy, I won my first title and for me it is a great achievement, to win on concrete then it's even more special. Getting to the final wasn't easy, I'm really proud of myself because I never gave up."
Paolini has been growing steadily over the past few years but made a huge leap in 2021 alone and the results speak for themselves. Her first title comes on hard which is not her strongest surface and it comes with several upsets over better-ranked players. On her growth she said:
"My growth? In the last two months I have been working hard, I have understood more about my game and I say that I want to maintain this level for the rest of the season, now we are running out but I would like to maintain these standards."
