Ons Jabeur got back to winning ways in Stuttgart coming back from losing the opening set to Vondrousova to win 4-6 6-2 6-3.
The Tunisian player had a tremendous run in Charleston reaching the final but ultimately failing to win it as Bencic proved better. Jabeur got a taste of clay at that event despite it being a bit different. She played in the Stuttgart doubles event yesterday with Ellen Perez but lost to Sabalenka and Badosa. Today, she started off badly against Vondrousova a noted clay specialist.
An early break by the Czech player put Jabeur in a tricky spot and she failed to fight back in the first set despite having a few chances. Eventually, she did find some confidence in her play as well as a good rhythm in the 2nd set. Vondrousova kept it all close at the start but towards the end of the set she faltered and Jabeur was able to take over. First, it was 4-2 and then it was 6-2 as Jabeur levelled the score to 1-1 in sets.
The 3rd set pretty much continued in the same manner as the 2nd set finished off. Jabeur was still firmly in control. She was playing her game and there was not much Vondrousova was able to do. Jabeur took a 3-0 lead and from there she was on cruise control towards the end of the match. A good win for the Tunisian after a bit of a shaky start.
