The streak of Jelena Ostapenko is over with the Latvian player losing to Estonian
Anett Kontaveit convincingly 1-6 4-6.
One streak ended and another kept going with Kontaveit continuing to play superb tennis as of late. The Estonian player is through to yet another final that might see her win her 2nd trophy in 2022. It would also be the biggest trophy of her career so there is no lack of motivation for her. For everything amazing Ostapenko did in the past two weeks, today was the opposite.
That's the story with Ostapenko who is unplayable on her day but quite poor when things are not going well. Things were defeintly not going for her in this match as she found herself down rather quickly. Kontaveit took an early break and never looked back cruising to a 6-1 finish of the first set.
Things did not go much better for Ostapenko in the 2nd set as she lost her serve in the first game played. Kontaveit then took a 2-0 lead and even broke Ostapenko once more for the 3-0 lead. Ostapenko eventually pulled one of the breaks but after that, both players settled nicely with neither being able to break the other one.
Kontaveit finished it off 6-4 to move on to the final.
