Mirra Andreeva set for next season of Netflix Break Point: "I like the attention they're giving me"

Mirra Andreeva will participate in the upcoming season of Break Point.

The 16-year-old tennis player has had an explosive 2023, starting at the Australian Open Junior where she reached the final but lost to her compatriot Alina Korneeva. Both players also teamed up in the doubles draw, reaching the semifinals.

In April, Andreeva claimed the title at the ITF Switzerland 01A and ITF Switzerland 02A. Her outstanding performance earned her a wild card entry into the Madrid Open, where she showed she was ready to compete on the WTA tour. She reached the round of 16, defeating Leylah Fernandez, Beatriz Haddad Maia (13th seed), and Magda Linette (17th seed) along the way, before falling in the round of 16 to Aryna Sabalenka, who went on to win the tournament.

She also had a great showing at the 2023 French Open, overcoming the qualifying rounds (including a victory against the top seed Maria Camila Osorio) and advancing to the third round with wins over Alison Riske and Diane Parry. Andreeva lost to Coco Gauff in the third round in a three-set match.

The young star has been confirmed as one of the featured players for the second season of the Netflix documentary Break Point, where they will follow the tennis players during the major tournaments of the tour in 2023.

Andreeva is currently competing in the Wimbledon qualifying rounds, where she has already advanced past the first round with a victory over Spanish player Rosa Vicens Mas. She will now face Chloe Paquet in the second round of qualifying. If she wins, she will proceed to the final match against the winner of the match between Carole Monnet and Tamara Korpatsch (19th seed).
