Ashleigh Barty and
Naomi Osaka are both in Paris preparing for the
Roland Garros and on Wednesday they practised together.
The world number one Ashleigh Barty and world number two Naomi Osaka shared to court together for a practice session at the Roland Garros. It was the 5th time they shared a court together albeit this was not a competitive match but it was a curious choice of practising partner considering their battle for the number one ranking.
Earlier in the year Osaka made headlines when she said she would not want to play Barty in a final. She said:
"When I say I wouldn’t like to play her, I just know it’s going to be hard. It would be fun. I know there are people that I want to play that I know is going to be hard."
She also said:
"Like I’d love to play [Bianca] Andreescu in a final. I think regardless of what I feel, I feel like the audience would have a lot of fun with that. I would love to play Iga [Swiatek].
The two can't meet at the
French Open unless both make it to a final and that would be quite a spectacular final. Matches against Andreescu and Swiatek would also be great watches for tennis fans around the world.
