Raducanu escapes against Korpatsch in Stuttgart

Emma Raducanu earned her 3rd clay win of the season with a strong showing against Tamara Korpatsch 6-0 2-6 6-1.

The British player is getting quite comfortable on clay at the indoor event in Stuttgart. She faced native player Korpatsch who is pretty solid on the surface, far more comfortable naturally than Raducanu but it did not matter at al. Raducanu came out on fire focused on the task at hand and she did not let up. She raced to a quick bagel losing only 7 points overall.

Aware of the situation Korpatch changed her mentality in the 2nd set opting to play some attacking tennis that was very brave. It worked out well for her as Raducanu was caught off guard and after dropping her serve early she never quite recovered. Korpatsch continued to apply the pressure and she added another break toward the end of the set to finish it off with 6-2.

Raducanu used that 2nd set to get used to what her opponent was doing and she came out knowing exactly how to counter it. Expectedly Raducanu's opponent dropped her level in the 3rd set as she was unable to hold the level so high for so long. Raducanu jumped out to a 3-0 lead and from there it was mostly cruise control for her as she finished it off with 6-1.
