Raducanu handed Miami Open wildcard after Indian Wells entry boost

Emma Raducanu got a wild card entry into the Miami Open avoiding the qualifiers just like in Indian Wells where she got in the main draw due to withdrawals.

Raducanu played okay to start this year but there haven't been any major results and her ranking is still not the greatest. She would have needed to play the qualifiers in both Indian Wells and Miami but she will be part of the main draw in both events. The first main entry happened because she got lucky.

There have been several withdrawals and she was able to get it. For Miami the cut-off happened earlier and that didn't help her but she got a wild card entry. Indian Wells will be her first event since the Australian Open as she didn't play in Austin this week due to an illness. Miami Open director James Blake briefly commented on Raducanu's and Thiem's wild cards:

“We are happy to be able to add Emma and Dominic to the Miami Open fields. Both these players have shown what it takes to win the biggest tournaments in the world, and we look forward to welcoming them to Miami to compete for the title here in a few short weeks.”
