The Omnium Banque Nationale Canadian Open women’s semifinal has been postponed with consistent rain.
The second semifinal of the competition was scheduled to take place on Saturday evening in Montreal between Elena Rybakina of Kazakhstan and Russia’s Liudmila Samsonova.
The match will now be played on Sunday morning whereas the final will also be played on the same day later.
The development will mean that the winner of the match will be at a disadvantage as she will be playing two full matches in a single day.
America’s Jessica Pegula has already cemented her place in the final of the competition after beating the world number one Poland’s Iga Swiatek with a score of 6-2, 6-7, 6-4.
Rybakina booked her place in the last-four after getting the better of Daria Kasatkina of Russia with a score of 5-7, 7-5, 7-6.
On the other hand, Samsonova registered her spot in the semifinal of the tournament after thrashing Switzerland’s Belinda Bencic in straight sets with a score of 6-4, 6-4 in the quarterfinal.

The second @OBNmontreal semifinal between Rybakina & Samsonova is now scheduled to be played on Sunday at 1:30pm local time. The winner will face Pegula in the final, which will take place after suitable rest and not before 5:30pm. More details 👇
