The third day of action starts shortly at the Stuttgart Open as our schedule takes you through all the top ties to watch including the all Andreeva sister tie and Iga Swiatek starting her campaign.
Starting off proceedings will see Mirra Andreeva face Erika Andreeva. Albeit it is a tie that the former sister despite her ranking and status now in the game has struggled with.
She was easily beaten last year in Wuhan and the older sister seems to have her number. But will that be the same today. Andreeva was due to face Marta Kostyuk but the Ukrainian had to withdraw with injury meaning Erika Andreeva got in as a lucky loser.
In terms of Mirra Andreeva, she has not played since Miami where she seemed to burn out in facing off with Amanda Anisimova and it was a tie with much friction between the pair. So it will be interesting to see where she currently stands heading into clay.
Especially with Madrid being next week which saw her emerge a few years ago. She also turns 18 shortly so new distractions will be there for her but it also means she no longer has to pick and choose due to the eligibility rules.
They are first up on Wednesday. Then it is Magdalena Frech who is one of two Pole's in action today. She faces off against Sara Errani who like Erika Andreeva is a lucky loser.
Then it is the turn of Iga Swiatek. Perhaps she would've expected to face off against Donna Vekic but the Croat lost out crying her eyes out. Instead it is Jana Fett who is the next player for her. Albeit all eyes will be on the Last 16 whether it will be Emma Navarro who will be much preferred.
Or whether it will be a certain Jelena Ostapenko who has been the achilles heel of the former World No.1 for many a year and could yet inflict another defeat on her. Then it is an all German clash as Tatjana Maria faces Ella Seidel.
Before we end on Elise Mertens facing Diana Shnaider with the latter now being coached by Dinara Safina and chasing her best run of the season.
