The name
Emma Raducanu is currently everywhere on the news and with good reason as the British teenager accomplished something never seen before.
At the mere age fo 18 years, playing only in her 2nd Grand Slam main draw, Raducanu was able to win her maiden Grand Slam title wihtouth dropping a set. If you thought that wasn't enough well she also became teh first qualifier ever to win a Grand Slam title. Becuase of all that, Raducanu is currently the biggest news in tennis.
Many have commented on the success and the latest is fellow Brit Jamie Murray who was astonished by the accomplishment:
“It was incredible, wasn’t it? Her second Grand Slam appearance at 18 years old. I’m sure she’s going to go on and be a superstar in the tennis world for years to come."
Murray was impressed with the poise and level she showed saying:
“She took it one match at a time, she played it point by point every
match and she showed the world that she had the level and the composure
to tick away and be a Grand Slam champion.”
Murray was also asked how she will respond to all the attention she is getting at the moment:
“She’ll be a big presence in the media and everyone will be keen to
follow how she performs on the court after what she’s done in New York. Hopefully she’s got good people around her, good grounding, good
base, and she’ll be fine. She’ll be focused on her career and keep
pressing forwards.”
