Iga Swiatek has been widely slammed after her anger and frustration got the better of her during her loss to Mirra Andreeva on Friday at Indian Wells. She lashed out at a ball kid and nearly hit him and members of her team.
Andreeva was at her very best during the win as Swiatek grew more and more frustrated. She turned and smashed the ball into the ground during her defeat and the ball kid could be seen raising their arms.
The ball narrowly missed him before bouncing into the crowd ironically where members of her team were sat. The moment of madness was met with booing from the crowd who were stunned to see this different side to Swiatek.
The incident happened minutes after Swiatek had complained to the umpire about the ball kids move while she was waiting for Andreeva's serve. Though many turned that sympathy off when she conducted herself in such a manner.
When the clip found its way onto social media, Swiatek was widely panned. “Ugly and dangerous, no need to take your anger out on a ball-kid," one wrote.
“Iga Swiatek deserved that loss, what a jerk. Awful behaviour, even made the ball kid flinch," another wrote.
Iga Swiatek slamming the ball from the ball kid, and it almost HIT both the ball kid and her team!
