Carlos Alcaraz smashed
Alexander Zverev once more at the
Madrid Open and speaking after the match, the Spaniard admitted it was pretty flawless.
It was a really great match from Alcaraz as he completely overwhelmed his opponent from the baseline. That in itself is not unusual but Zverev can absorb such power well and his serve is a major weapon in Madrid.
He won that event in the past so his losing so quickly is certainly surprising. Zverev actually defeated Alcaraz at Roland Garros last year so there was motivation for Alcaraz there.
Speaking to the Tennis Channel after the match, Alcaraz admitted that it's pretty tough to be better than he aws against Zverev:
“I have to talk with my coach honestly. It’s tough to be better than today..”
His next chance to be better comes later today when he faces Karen Khachanov for a spot in the semi-finals.
